Alapuzha was named as the ‘Venice of the East’ by Lord Curzon. This beach has the Arabian Sea in the West and a large number of lakes and lagoons across. Famous for a variety of things, Alapuzha stands for its awe-inspiring beach. This beach along with its famous backwater Houseboats and Boat races attracts thousands of tourists every year. Alapuzha beach is rather the sedate and pride of the town. During evening, we can find folks hanging around to view the adorable sunset. The broad white sands have seen new additions recently, like a brand new beach road, a beautiful park on the front, a couple of artistic statues and tall mast lights in between.
The Southern tip of the beach has a large statue of a fisherwoman embracing a little baby in her arms, while at the northern tip; we can see the 140 years old wharf, which extends into the sea. This was built in 1862 by Marthanda Varma. There is also dense palm grooves and a lighthouse painted with red and white strips rising into the sky. Alapuzha beach is one of the most famous picnic spot in Kerala, where we watch the creativity with which God has made this landscape. An entertainment facility at the verdant Vijaya Beach Park and Sea View Park enhances the beauty of Alapuzha beach. Boating facility is available in both parks.
